Ship tail gas purification treatment device
With the in-depth development of global economic integration, shipping has become an indispensable part of international trade, and the ensuing ship emissions have attracted more and more attention from the international community. Ships will produce a large number of harmful gases and particles during navigation, which will do great harm to the environment and human health. Therefore, it is an important way to solve this problem to research and develop an efficient and reliable ship exhaust purification and treatment device.
I. Background
In recent years, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and governments of various countries have successively issued a series of regulations and standards on reducing the discharge of pollutants from ships, the most stringent of which is the amendment of Annex VI of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships adopted by IMO in 2016, the so-called MARPOL Annex VI. The Convention stipulates the emission limits of sulfur oxides (SOx) that all ships in the world must abide by, and establishes several emission control areas (ECA) to implement stricter emission restrictions in these areas. In order to meet these new environmental protection requirements, many shipowners began to seek effective ways to reduce the emissions of pollutants such as sulfur oxides in their fleets, which also promoted the development of ship exhaust purification technology.
Second, the principle and classification
At present, there are mainly three types of ship exhaust purification systems in the market: wet scrubber, dry scrubber and mixed scrubber.
Wet scrubber uses water or other liquid as medium to dissolve or adsorb pollutants such as sulfide in tail gas to achieve the purpose of purification. It can be subdivided into Open Loop, Closed Loop and Hybrid System. Among them, the open scrubber uses seawater as cleaning solution, and SOx in the tail gas will be dissolved into sulfate and go with the water; The closed-loop scrubber uses fresh water for circulating cleaning, and alkaline substances need to be added regularly to neutralize the generated acidic substances; The hybrid scrubber has the characteristics of the first two, and the working mode can be switched flexibly according to the actual situation.
Dry scrubbers usually use powdered absorbents such as limestone powder and sodium hydroxide to spray into high-temperature flue to react with waste gas to remove SOx and NOx components contained therein. This scheme does not need to consume additional water resources, and is more suitable for those sea areas that lack clean water sources and cannot be easily replenished.
Third, the development trend
Although various ship exhaust purification technologies have achieved certain results, they still face many challenges. For example, how to further improve equipment efficiency and reduce costs? How to better adapt to the impact of changes in the characteristics of different types of fuels and so on. In addition, the popularization and application of new energy power system will also have an impact on traditional combustion methods, forcing related industries to constantly explore innovative ideas to meet future demand.
In a word, it is of great significance to develop a high-efficiency and low-consumption ship exhaust purification treatment device for protecting the marine ecological environment. We look forward to seeing more advanced and reliable products and technologies coming out in the future to help realize the sustainable development goal of the shipping industry!
